BIRTH DOES NOT HAPPEN TO US, IT IS US.

Inspired by the desire to build community that radically centers women and girls and honors birth as a sacred rite of passage, The Village Sister was born.

An advocate for birth choice, my goal is to provide you with attentive and informed support through preconception and beyond.

ABOUT ME

Untitled

I am a wife and mother to four, an Okie born and raised, and an aspiring clinical herbalist. I have been attending out of hospital births since 2020 after the birth of my twin daughters, initially as a midwifery assistant and now as a traditional midwife. I value honoring the intuition and autonomy of the women I serve wholly. I believe when we allow birth to unfold, undisturbed, and in a space of joy and love, we can repair the Earth.

After being  a nurse for nearly ten years, with two of those in Labor & Delivery, I could no longer witness the sabotage of physiologic birth in the system or ignore the call to support women birthing in sovereignty.

The system is broken. Or rather, functioning just as it's designed.

My services are for women who trust birth, their bodies, and their innate wisdom.

If you are seeking truly collaborative care divested from the medical model, it's here.

YOU are the expert in your life, sister.

Arhia,

The Village Sister

Village Prenatal

Reimagine your prenatal care. Sit in circle with the women of your community. Learn from the unique experiences of women in all seasons of life and find common ground through storytelling.

When dreaming about what whole woman’s care could be, I envisioned women gathering to nurture trust in their bodies, sharing their wisdom with sisters of their community, and doing for themselves what the allopathic model of care assumes we cannot. Village prenatals provide an opportunity for us to discuss the happenings of our lives and learn how to care for ourselves spiritually and physically. We prioritize the pregnant women in attendance and themes are often centered around we may show up for these women, at-home prenatal care, birth preparation, postpartum support, etc.

These gatherings are open to all women, from maiden to grandmother, interested in learning about their bodies, birth, and claiming sovereignty through all cycles of life.

Village Prenatals are held monthly at Origins of Spirit in Bethany.

Our disregard for nature and disconnect from the planet is a reflection of our own beliefs about women. How we birth is the antidote.
